The benefits of Dunlopillo pillows

Dunlopillo Pillows

Chances are that you have heard of the Dunlopillo Pillow. They are renowned for their use of natural latex, high quality, breathability and comfort. They come in a range of styles, sizes, profiles, softnesses, and materials, which we’ll delve into later.

Dunlopillo are the only pillows endorsed by the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Also, the pillows are hypoallergenic, making them ideal for people with allergies or respiratory issues.

Dunlopillo pillows are designed with the user’s comfort in mind. Their innovative design, available in latex and memory foam, contours to your body, providing maximum support and reducing pressure points. This feature ensures that you wake up feeling refreshed and without neck or back pain. The holes in the latex allow for optimal airflow, ensuring that you stay cool and comfortable throughout the night.

Dunlopillo offers a vast selection of pillows, catering to all preferences. The pillows come in different firmness levels and heights, ensuring that everyone finds the perfect match. Whether you prefer a soft, medium, or firm pillow, or a low, medium or high profile, Dunlopillo has it all.

Dunlopillo Luxurious Latex

Although the Dunlopillo pillows come in memory form or natural Talalay latex, the ‘Luxurious Latex‘ is the most popular. Talalay latex is a highly resilient material that is naturally hypoallergenic and dust-mite resistant. It also has superior ventilation properties, meaning it stays cool throughout the night. The Luxurious Latex pillows are available in both traditional pillow shapes and a contoured shape to provide extra support for your head, neck and shoulders.

Renowned as the “earth’s most perfect sleep material”, Talalay Latex is responsibly sourced from rubber trees and processed with natural biodegradable elements. The Talalay process is a way to make latex foam rubber. First, liquid latex is put into a closed mould. Then the air is taken out of it. The mould is frozen so that the structure stays in place. Carbon Dioxide gas is added and then the mould gets heated until the rubber becomes solid.

Is Dunlopillo Pillow good?

This is THE question! Is the Dunlopillo Pillow really any good? And, the answer is YES!

We have tried a LOT of pillows from numerous well-known and boutique brands, and although Dunlopillo is not the most expensive pillow we have tested, it’s hands-down the best!

Other pillows we have tried have left us with headaches, stiff neck and sore shoulders. We don’t need to tell you what a difference it makes to wake up pain-free and ready to start a new day. Unlike others, this pillow smells good, looks good and feels good.

We have to give this one 5 stars!

Have you ever bought a pillow online only for it to arrive and you find out it’s much smaller than you expected? We have! The Dunlopillo is not one of these. It’s standard 59cm x 40cm size is just what we expect from a pillow.

In the interest of transparency, we should say here that we have only tried the Dunlopillo Luxurious Latex Dual Contour Pillow. The contour shape is great for your neck and having two sides with different contour levels means you can turn it around to suit your size and sleeping position.

Have Dunlopillo pillows been discontinued?

Yes and no. It depends on which country you are in.

Dating back to 1929, Dunlopillo was developed by UK scientist E.A. Murphy and his team as they explored various types of foam materials and formulations. Mr Murphy was employed by Dunlop Ltd, who went on to register the brand name Dunlopillo. Dunlop manufactures many well-known products, including tyres and sporting goods.

In 1931 the first latex mattresses and pillows were produced by Dunlopillo. They achieved remarkable success as the first mattresses and pillows that don’t require plumping or turning to stay fresh and retain their original shape. Now, almost a century later, Dunlopillo is still the leading manufacturer of latex foam. According to the Dunlopillo International website, in 2001 British Tire and Rubber decided to diversify their business and started selling off the brand rights for different countries to their distributors / management buyout. All Dunlopillo brand owners for respective countries are now independently owned.

Confused yet? So are we! In summary, the brand name has a long history of excellence and is now owned independently by businesses in various countries around the world. Despite the inference in the brand name, Dunlopillo has always been predominantly a mattress manufacturer.
